William T. Toutant and Wayne P. La- Grange have been elected vice presidents of Jeffboat, Inc., Jeffersonville, Ind.

Mr. Toutant, who has served as director of engineering for the inland shipbuilding firm for the past two years, now will be vice president in charge of the company's engineering activities. Mr. LaGrange, who has been director of production since March of last year, will be vice president in charge of production at Jeffboat.

Jeffboat, which operates the nation's largest inland shipyard on the Ohio River in Jeffersonville, is a part of the Inland Waterways Services Division of Texas Gas Transmission Corporation.

A former officer in the U.S. Navy and a retired commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve, Mr. Toutant joined Jeffboat in 1959 as a naval architect. He became chief engineer in 1966, served as director of research and engineering for American Commercial Barge Line Company from 1972 to 1975, and then returned to Jeffboat as director of engineering.

Mr. Toutant holds a Bachelor of Science degree (BS) from the U.S. Naval Academy, a master's degree in mechanical engineering (MME) from Syracuse University, and a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from the University of Louisville. He also served as instructor at Syracuse University and the U.S. Naval Academy. A native of Auburn, N.Y., Mr. Toutant is a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers, The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, The Propeller Club of the United States, and the Marine Chemists' Association. He is also a registered professional engineer and a certified marine chemist.

Mr. LaGrange's service with Jeffboat dates back to August 20, 1962, when he joined the firm as a steelfitter. He advanced to the position of foreman in 1968, became a production analyst in 1970, and was named line superintendent in 1971. A year later, he became yard production manager, and on March 1, 1976, he was named director of production.

A native of St. Croix, Ind., Mr. LaGrange is currently enrolled in the business administration program at Indiana University Southeast at New Albany, Ind. His educational background also includes attendance at Western Kentucky University, and the completion of special instruction in diesel mechanics and advanced blueprint reading. Mr. LaGrange is a member of The Propeller Club of the United States, the American Welding Society, and the Knights of Columbus. He also is active in Little League baseball.
